Work with us
Whether you're:
  • a family seeking a child psychologist in Sydney's upper North Shore (or telehealth psychology)
  • a clinician seeking high-level supervision
  • a school looking to support student wellbeing

I offer tailored services grounded in evidence-based practice and 15 years of clinical experience.

Support that stabilises the environment your family is growing in

PATHWAYS OF CARE

Meaningful change rarely happens in a couple of sessions – it emerges when we work together to create the conditions for growth at home, at school and in your family’s daily rhythms. My approach integrates clinical psychology, family systems theory, attachment principles, and developmental neuroscience to address both the symptoms and the soil they're growing in.

Work with us

The family ecosystem method: a three-phase approach to meaningful change

 FOR FAMILIES

When you work with me, you don't just get a therapy hour. You enter a structured pathway designed to stabilise your family's environment, address root causes, and build resilience that lasts. Here's how it works:

Assessment & Stabilisation

This phase includes:

Clinical Assessment: A thorough evaluation of your child's emotional wellbeing and your family's unique patterns and stressors.

Family Systems Understanding: We explore the bigger picture—how relationships, generational patterns, and life events shape what's happening now.

Creating the Container: We work together to reduce overwhelm and establish the predictability that creates a foundation for therapeutic work.

Optional Add-On - Sensory Landscape Audit: I offer a specialised evaluation that creates a tailored blueprint for supporting their unique needs at home and school.

PHASE 1:

We don't just assess the child; we stabilise the ecosystem they grow in. Before we begin deeper therapeutic work, we work together to establish the conditions that support change. In your first session, you'll receive my exclusive Family Foundations: A Reset Guide—a curated toolkit of resources to help you begin lowering stress and establishing rhythm at home immediately.

Therapy & Connection

This phase includes:

Individual Therapy for Your Child/Teen: Sessions using CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) skills to build emotional regulation and psychological flexibility. I always encourage involvement in a way your child is comfortable with—whether that's a brief check-in, joining for part of the session or being in the loop afterwards.

Family Therapy: Whole-family sessions where we work together on communication patterns, conflict resolution, and strengthening relationships. Using family systems principles and attachment-based approaches, we address the dynamics that affect everyone—not just the identified "problem."

Parenting Support: Coaching sessions for parents using attachment-based approaches, family systems principles, and Circle of Security concepts. You'll learn practical strategies and scripts for co-regulation at home.

Connection AND Structure: Regardless of the pathway, this isn't permissive parenting – it’s about holding boundaries with warmth, preparing kids for real life while maintaining secure relationships.

PHASE 2:

Targeted clinical intervention tailored to your family's unique needs.
As the foundation becomes more stable, we introduce therapeutic work using evidence-based approaches. Depending on what your family needs, we might use one or a combination of these pathways:

Growth & Future-Proofing

This phase includes:

Regular Check-Ins: We assess progress throughout. If things aren't improving as we’d hoped, we always reassess together, considering different therapeutic approaches or support from other specialists.

School Advocacy: If needed, I can join you for school meetings to translate your child's needs into practical classroom strategies. With significant schools experience across the North Shore, Northern Beaches and the Central Coast, I speak the language teachers understand. If you would like a specialised school support package, please see my ‘Comprehensive School Liaison Package’ below.

Future-Proofing: We develop strategies for navigating future challenges—developmental transitions, exam periods, friendship struggles—so you have tools to draw on if and when things feel hard again.

Finishing Strong: When you're ready, we end therapy intentionally. My hope is that the skills and insights you’ve developed will continue to support your family long after our work together ends.

PHASE 3:

Embedding the changes for the long term, and knowing when to finish.
Therapy isn't meant to last forever. My goal is to help you build capacity, not create dependency. As new patterns start to feel more natural, we work toward finishing well.

You might be wondering whether your family’s struggles are ‘serious enough for therapy’. Here’s the truth: if something feels hard, it is hard – you don’t need to wait until things are in crisis to reach out. In fact, it is often best to put things in place before then.

GETTING SUPPORT FOR YOUR CHILD CAN FEEL OVERWHELMING

Standard sessions are 50 minutes, though I also offer extended 75 or 90-minute sessions for family therapy or initial consultations. Sessions can be in-person at my Hornsby psychology practice or via telehealth psychology across Australia.

Flexible to your needs

 SESSION LENGTH & FORMAT

The first session is usually with parents (or the whole family, depending on your child's age and comfort level). We'll discuss what's been happening, your concerns, and your goals. You'll leave with my Family Foundations: A Reset Guide and a clear sense of next steps.

We start with you

THE FIRST SESSION

Lots of families start with weekly sessions, then move to fortnightly as things stabilise. We adjust the frequency collaboratively based on what's working for you. Some families see significant shifts in 6-8 sessions, others need longer or shorter term support. We check in regularly about progress, and if things stall, we reassess together.

PAYMENTS & REBATES

I assess whether we’re a good fit from our very first session – I won’t take your family on if I believe another specialist would serve you better. If during our work together it becomes clear a different approach or practitioner would be more helpful, I’ll tell you honestly and help you find the right support. You deserve a psychologist who truly gets your family's needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book an appointment? +

Please send an enquiry via the contact form, an email, or leave a message/text me directly at 0451 449 250. Please note this phone is checked intermittently during business hours. I'll respond within 1-2 business days to schedule your initial session.

Do you have a waitlist? What's your current availability? +

Availability varies throughout the year. I do my best to accommodate families who need support soon. Contact me to check current wait times - I'll give you an honest timeframe and can provide referrals to other psychologists if my waitlist is longer than you can wait.

Where is your practice located? +

My practice is located at Suite 701, 90 George Street, Hornsby. It is close to the train station, Westfield, and easily accessible from the Upper North Shore, Hills District, Northern Beaches, and Central Coast.

Is there parking available? +

Yes, there is street parking nearby and parking at Westfield Hornsby (short walk). The practice is also easily accessible by train—Hornsby Station is approximately a 5-minute walk.

Do I get a rebate? +

If you wish to access a Medicare rebate for the session fee, please see your child's GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist for a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).

Do you offer after-school or weekend appointments? +

Yes, I offer limited after-school and weekend appointments to accommodate school and work schedules. These appointments have a $20 surcharge and book out quickly, so early booking is recommended.

Do you accept private health insurance? +

Yes, however you will need to check with your individual health fund. I also accept NDIS Participants with Self-Managed and Plan-Managed Funds.

What if I need to cancel? +

Due to service demand, I require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the full session fee, as that time often cannot be taken up by another family at late notice. If you wish to reschedule your appointment on a Monday or a Saturday, you will need to provide notice by 5pm on Thursday.

What ages do you work with? +

I work with children (from around age 3 or 4), adolescents, and parents. I also offer family therapy sessions for the whole family unit.

Do you work with adults? +

My primary focus is children, adolescents, and families. I usually work with parents individually or as a dyad, and I provide adult therapy outside of the parenting context on occasion.

What issues do you support? +

My focus areas are anxiety, school refusal, emotional regulation, family conflict, attachment concerns, and supporting neurodivergent children and teens. I work with families navigating the pressures of school, perfectionism, social struggles, and big life transitions - including parent separation and other family changes.

Do you have experience with neurodivergent children and teenagers? +

Yes. I believe every child is worthy exactly as they are. I take a neuro-affirming approach - one that celebrates your child's unique way of being, while also collaborating to build the skills, strategies, and supports they need to feel safe, connected, and confident in their world.

Will you just see my child, or do parents need to be involved? +

I always involve parents in some way. Meaningful change is more likely when the whole family system shifts, not just the child. Depending on your child's age and needs, this might look like parent check-ins, family sessions, or parent coaching alongside individual work with your child.

What's the difference between a clinical psychologist, psychologist, and counsellor? +

Different practitioners have different training pathways and areas of expertise. Clinical psychologists have completed additional postgraduate training in psychological assessment and diagnosis of mental health conditions. Psychologists provide therapeutic support across a range of concerns, and counsellors may have varying levels of training - all provide valuable support that is right for different families. If you're unsure whether clinical psychology is what your child needs, your GP can help guide this decision, or you're welcome to contact me with any questions.

What if therapy isn't working? +

If after a few sessions things aren't improving, we'll reassess together. Maybe we need a different approach, or maybe you need a different type of support. I'll be honest with you—and help you find what you need.

Can my child's other parent/grandparent/caregiver attend sessions? +

Yes! I welcome anyone who plays a significant role in your child's life to be involved in sessions. Consistency across caregivers often helps children feel more secure and supported. If there are more than two parent/caregivers wanting to attend, please discuss this with me first as we want to ensure the space is not overwhelming for your child or teenager.

Do you provide reports for schools? +

Yes. I can provide letters or reports for schools as needed, please enquire for the relevant fees. I can also attend school meetings to advocate for your child's needs—this is part of my Comprehensive School Liaison Package (please refer to my Services).

What's your approach/therapeutic style? +

I integrate clinical psychology, family systems theory, attachment principles, and developmental neuroscience. I use evidence-based therapies such as CBT, ACT, and DBT, but always within a whole-family framework. My style is warm, direct, and practical—my goal is to always provide families with tools that are truly practical.

How do I know if you're the right fit for my family? +

The first session will give you a good sense of whether we're a good match. If after our initial sessions I don't think I'm the right fit, I'll tell you—and help you find someone who is. You deserve a psychologist who truly gets your family's needs.

Is what we discuss confidential? +

Yes. Everything discussed in sessions is confidential, with a few exceptions: if there's a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if records are subpoenaed by a court. We will go through all of this when we first meet, and I'll always discuss any concerns with you whenever possible. For children and teens, I explain all of this in age-appropriate ways, discuss what they are comfortable with in terms of sharing with parents/school, and work to build trust while keeping parents appropriately informed.

What if there's a crisis or emergency? +

If you're experiencing a mental health crisis outside of session times, please contact your GP, call Lifeline (13 11 14), or go to your nearest hospital emergency department. For child-specific crisis support, contact Kids Helpline (1800 55 1800). I'm not available for crisis support outside of scheduled appointments, but we can arrange more frequent sessions if you're going through an acutely difficult period.

What happens to my information and records? +

I maintain secure clinical records in accordance with Australian privacy laws and AHPRA requirements. Your records are stored confidentially. I only share information with other parties if you provide written consent (such as with your GP or your child's school).
